BB positioning - holding / pushing / maximising damage

Probably the most challenging for me is to figure out the best positioning. I see some people push too early and end up focus fired and die quickly. Some teams don't sense when to push at the best time. Too far from the action and its low impact. Some T5 BB are very slow [American] and it is difficult to cross the map if needed as it takes forever.

2nd I still have aiming problems. I'm only hitting about 3o% of the time. My worst aim is when the enemy is kiting and angled. I find when I kite and angle I am still getting hit quite good. So I know it is an area I must improve in. Sometimes, when I am bow in or angled slightly the enemy gets 3-4k damage but when I try for a hit in a similar way I get like 1-2k which is pretty much over pens. I also look for opportunities to use all the guns instead of just the forward ones; however, this is risky due to too much broadside at times. I am mostly using AP unless there is an opportunity to slap DDs and I am getting better at hitting DDs with the occasional miss due to RNG and the spread of the shells around the ship. I wonder if I should use HE a little more often but I would hate to miss a nice broadside opportunity with AP.

What is the best strategy for being up tiered? The maps do not mirror by tier. So I could be in a T5 and have a T7 spawn on my side. I do not know all the armour schemes and overmatch yet to be honest, I do not think they are that critical in low tiers. I am mostly seeing T5 with T4 /// T5 with just T6 /// and the occasional T5/T6/T7. My performance in T4/T5/T6 is better but it suffers when T7 is in the mix. I am usually at the bottom of these team standings.

I averaged 4ok damage to-day which is sort of okay. I have an occasional 1ook match but it is very inconsistent. I attribute some of my positioning problems along with a needed improvement in aiming. My aim on broadsides and DDs is pretty consistent and much better lately. I was trying to review a replay and it crashed when loading. The error message said the replay was not compatible with the launcher. I thought my mods might have something to do with this as check and repair actually d/l and repaired something this time. I tried to see the replay after and I got the same warning and crashed game again with mods removed. Check and repair has fixed the files again.

I learn better by reading than watching videos and would appreciate some guidance if possible.

Firstly I would like to say, thank you for asking for help. That is the hardest step in my opinion.

So after having a brief read over what you're saying, positioning issues, aiming issues and up tier issues. These are all easily fixed!

Ok so lets start with positioning. This is probably the most complicated one, as there's no real easy solution to figure out what to do. It heavily depends on your matchmaking and map for where to go. However I can think of some basic pointers. For BBs if you have the range, you can play in the center of the map or further back between two capture points. This allows you to get shots all around and will usually mean you have crossfires with your team as they'll most likely position on the edges of the map. It also allows you to fall back easily if needed and support your DDs. As for pushing in, I'd say a general idea is when there's no DDs left on your flank and there's an opening for you to take advantage of, for example if one enemy BB has pushed up greatly and is harassing your team, you could push to his flank to get easy chunks out of him.

Secondly, aiming. For me aiming is my biggest problem, I am still learning how to aim properly in this game. For this you can try and use the nonogram modern and classic mods. However recently I have started using no crosshair, as a friend of mine who is very good at the game told me aiming is all about feeling. I would say use the nonogram crosshairs to get a general idea of how far to lead specific ships but as soon as you are getting more consistent go no crosshair. Also when you're firing salvos check the minimap, make sure the little circle is where you want it to be on the map. If a ship is sailing straight it should be in-front and in the middle of his ship symbol. If he is turning in/out make sure your aim is adjusting for that on the minimap. Another solution (This is what I like to do because I'm lazy) play ships with high shell velocity and faster reloads, so you get more chances of hitting your shots and it's easier to aim in general.

Thirdly, up tiers. This again really depends on your ship. However remember, with good positioning and aim a bottom tier BB can still dev strike higher tier BBs and cruisers. In an uptier I would say, use slightly more HE against angled BBs and play a bit more passively. Try and support your top tier ship but don't throw yourself away. You can still make crossfires and get lots of damage but remember if you mess up you'll be punished more because of the increased overmatch.

I have some questions for you, what lines are you grinding, what are you captains/modules and remember at the end of the day it is a game. So don't stress too much. I used to be absolutely horrible at the game but I managed to crawl back and now I'm slightly above average.

We'll work on this together and hopefully you'll be doing 3x your current damage.

So I'm currently grinding U.K. and Soviet lines. US is ground to Montana but I am not playing high tiers yet. [Mostly a DD person but I am enjoying BB. Horrible at cruisers and no interest in sub/cv.] - HMS Tiger is Gun Feeder / GTG / AR / Emergency Repair expert. - Main Armaments // DC Mod 1 // Aiming Systems Mod 1 --- Pyotr  Velikiy is GF // GTG // and AR - same modules as Tiger [all recommended ones].

I am also playing USS Texas with a 21 pointer - Emergency Repair Specialist / GTG / AR / Basics of Survivability / Emergency Repair Expert / Concealment / Fire Prevention --- Main Armaments // DC Mod 1 // and Main Battery Mod 2. [recommended ones]

I am also messing about with Agincourt with a full secondary build [18 pointer] but there is a bit of a learning curve with this ship and it is not a priority.

Your guidance is extremely helpful. I'll let you know how I am doing once I get some battles in. Thank you kindly.

Soviet line is kinda mid if I am honest. But if you're doing the St Vincent line for UK than that's great!

I would say Vincent line doesn't need GTG and actually a great advantage of them is their concealment. That line is one of the few I would consider going CE before ERE as the first 4p skill. As for Kremlin line, yeah they need GTG, it's only Kremlin that doesn't. But otherwise it all looks good so far.

It plays so much differently to anything else but it's also at an extremely easy tier so feel free to have fun with it.

I wish you the best of luck, lots of dev strikes and solo warriors!
