SS Dalarna

 

(Europe), the Pan-European line represents ships from various nations within the European region. Ships from these navies are currently represented in World of Warships: Sweden, Poland, Greece, Turkey, Norway, Yugoslavia, and Austria-Hungary.

The EU line has two (2) branches: the Halland branch (torp/gun) and the Gdansk branch (gunboats).  Friesland/Groningen, Ragnar, and Smaland will be discussed within their own section.

Tier 2 Tatra

The Tatra (Austro-Hungarian Navy) is a European Tier II destroyer.  She was built as part of the naval program and intended to equip the Austro-Hungarian Navy with more advanced ships. The artillery for the destroyers was supplied by the Czech company Škoda.

Tier 5 Visby

The Visby (Sweden) is a European Tier V destroyer.  She is an improved version of the Götenborg class.  The lead ship of the series, Visby launched in October 1942, and entered service in August 1943. After a long and "quiet" service, in the early 1960s, destroyers of this class were converted into anti-submarine frigates. The ships received helipads and rocket-assisted bomb throwers.

Tier 5 Muavenet

The Muavenet is a European Tier V destroyer.  In 1938, Turkey ordered four ships of the latest I-class from Great Britain. Two of them, however, including Muavenet, were purchased by Great Britain when World War II broke out. Muavenet, later became HMS Inconstant.  Finally, in 1946, the ship was returned to Turkey, where she again acquired the name Muavenet in honor of destroyer Muâvenet-i Millîye, which had sunk British battleship Goliath during the Gallipoli campaign of World War I.

The Stord is a European Tier VI destroyer.  She was transferred to the Norwegian Navy and received the name "Stord".  The Stord entered service in September 1943. In 1943 and 1944, she participated in operations in the North Atlantic and escorted polar convoys. During the Battle of the North Cape, Stord was involved in sinking German battleship Scharnhorst. In 1944, the destroyer participated in covering the landings in Normandy, then returned to escorting convoys heading for the U.S.S.R. After the war, Stord became the flagship of the Norwegian Navy.

Tier 7 Grom

The Grom is a European Tier VII destroyer.  The Grom began its service in 1937.  With the outbreak of World War II, the destroyer broke through the Baltic to Britain to help escort wartime supply convoys to Poland. However, the convoys were never organized due to the rapid fall of Poland, and Grom came under the command of the British Navy. Being part of it, she took part in the Norwegian campaign. On May 4, 1940, one of Grom's torpedo tubes were hit by a bomb, which caused the torpedoes to detonate. It took less than three minutes for the ship to sink.

The Błyskawica (Poland) is a European Premium Tier VII destroyer.  She was the most powerful destroyer of her time.  The ship surpassed rival navies' destroyers in terms of speed and artillery power. When commissioned, she had the most powerful AA defense among all destroyers in the world.  Błyskawica is now preserved as a military museum ship in Gdynia, Poland.

Tier 7 Stord '43

The Stord '43 (Norway) is a European Special Premium Tier VII destroyer.  She was one of 8 S-class destroyers ordered by the British Admiralty under the War Emergency Program.  Stord entered service in 1943 and 1944. The Stord gained her name in history during the Battle of the North Cape. Norwegian torpedoes played an important role in sinking German battleship Scharnhorst. In June 1944, Stord supported the landing of troops in Normandy, after which she remained in active service for another 15 years.

Tier 8 Split

The Split is a European Tier VIII destroyer.  She is named after the city where she was built, was laid down in 1939 and armed with five Czechoslovak-produced 140 mm guns. In 1941, the city of Split was captured by the Italians, who decided to complete the construction of the ship. In 1943, the destroyer was renamed Spalato and launched. After the capitulation of Italy, the ship was grounded in the port. In 1948, Yugoslavia resumed work on the ship, but receiving weapons from Czechoslovakia was no longer possible, and Split was eventually completed with British-American weapons instead. The ship entered service in 1959, immediately becoming the navy's flagship.

The Jäger is a European special premium Tier IX destroyer.  In 1917, Austria-Hungary began working on a project to build a destroyer leader.  Draft designs were submitted by Blohm & Voss and Ganz-Danubius. The Austro-Hungarian Marine Technical Committee developed several projects—one of them, presented in 1917, provided for the construction of a 2,000-ton torpedo boat, which was to be equipped with 6-inch main battery guns. However, with the end of World War I and the collapse of Austria-Hungary, the destroyers were never built.
