Q - Ships Sighted

I called it some time back on the official forum, sooner or later we would get them, those crafty DEV's at WG would some how get them into the game and what makes it all the more better there starting in Low Tiers which is great news for all those who love that " OTHER " ship type.

This could be a prelude to Low Tier Subs and I know that WG community just love Subs

Could also be someone making a mountain out of a mole-hill?  😉

The sailing ship seems like an "easter egg" that appears in certain conditions.  A decoration for entertainment, for now.
Not so different from the birds, dolphins, sharks and other "features" that inhabit the maps.

Just having some fun while I was doing the last of the low tier event, notice the ship and thought hey looks like a Q - ship so I will write a quirky post.

By the way your correct it is a Easter egg apparently if you hit it with torpedoes you get a special achievement, I just happen to be in a ship without Torpedoes but I decided to try to fire on it and see if maybe you get the achievement but no its torpedoes or bust.

cheers

Here we go !  Where's my popcorn.   IF and I mean IF, we ever have a North Atlantic or Caribbean mode of play that has a "protect the transports" as an theme, that includes player owned and configured  "Q-Ships", then we have ignition of a NEW mode of play....

We'd would have to have the PBY or Condor classes of planes as well...  DE and Corvettes too....!  New maps for sure;  to include,  the North Atlantic all the way to the Falkland Islands.... As well as the Mediterranean early war...  Of course, the mode would have to have two phases:  early wars and late wars so as to contain the technologies that changed so radically between 1938 to 1945....

Q-Ship stories in Science Fiction are really good reads BTW.   The Honor Harrington Series by David Webber has an entire book on the subject of space transport ships converted into Q-Ships that is a fun read.....

That's one petty ship... Is it a schooner or a brigantine? Looks like a bit of both.

Well, apparently if we go by the fact that it has rigged square sails on the foremast, it's a brigantine.

Thanks. I was under the impresión the brigantine has square rig on the top half of the Main mast, but a further search seems to indicate more flexible standards

The sound volume is low, so crank-up your speakers.  🙂

THE SHAW BROTHERS The Day The Tall Ships Came 1997 Live

Quote
THE IRISH ROVERS
"The Day The Tall Ships Came"

Out of the mists of time they came
Topsails flying high
Like phantoms of the past they flew
On billowed wings of white
Fresh as the winds of morning,
Light as the ocean spray.
A wonder to behold they were
As they sailed upon their way.

Windjammer, sloop and ketch,
Brigantine and yawl,
From far off corners of the world
They left their ports of call
Great and noble ladies
True sirens of the sea
They brought their nation's blessings to
The land of liberty

From England, France and Germany
From Portugal and Spain
From Russia and from Poland
They crossed the bounding main
From North and South
And East and West
From every point they come
From far off Scandinavia
And the Land of the Rising Sun.

Windjammer, sloop and ketch,
Brigantine and yawl,
From far off corners of the world
They left their ports of call
Great and noble ladies
True sirens of the sea
They brought their nation's blessings to
The land of liberty

And those of us who lined the shores
That morning in July,
And watched in silent wonder as
The ships passed slowly by,
Could hear them calling to us
From beyond the winds of time
And feel the rolling of the decks
And taste the salty brine.

Windjammer, sloop and ketch,
Brigantine and yawl,
From far off corners of the world
They left their ports of call
Great and noble ladies
True sirens of the sea
They brought their nation's blessings to
The land of liberty

One day they'll tell the story
Of a day that's long gone by
When the Tall Ships came a-sailin'
With their masts up to the sky
And the lives of we that saw them
Will never be the same
And the world will all remember
The Day The Tall Ships Came.

Windjammer, sloop and ketch,
Brigantine and yawl,
From far off corners of the world
They left their ports of call
Great and noble ladies
True sirens of the sea
They brought their nation's blessings to
The land of liberty

Windjammer, sloop and ketch,
Brigantine and yawl,
From far off corners of the world
They left their ports of call
Great and noble ladies
True sirens of the sea
They brought their nation's blessings to
The land of liberty

Here's a link to sailing ship types:

https://maritimemuseum.novascotia.ca/research/sailing-ship-rigs

There's lots of these online and some of the guides disagree!  🙂

Here's the Eagle, with some videos of how it's currently operated.

https://uscga.edu/mission/eagle/about-eagle/

And for fun, we still have an "active" full rigged commissioned ship in the US Navy:

https://www.navy.mil/uss-constitution/

It should be allowed in game and have one shot privileges against any other... friend or foe...
