Admiral_Karasu
I'm continuing as Grand Moth for the Merry Month of May (do I hear applauds?), and for this month we are trying some new fangled thing called democracy. Meaning the club members get to vote on the May MOTM. Regardless of the results, you can always watch any of these movies anyway on your own. The Poll remains open for about a week or so, unless everyone is quick to vote on the next movie. 1. AdmiralThunder
Sink the Bismarck is my fav. Bit of trivia for those who don't know Vanguard was used for the close up shots of the guns firing in the movie and some of the on ship scenes were filmed on it too. 2

Admiral_Karasu
Still time to vote on the club's pick for the May Movie of the Month. I will probably close the poll by the weekend at the latest so we can get officially started.

Yeah, I never knew that until reading about Vanguard a couple years ago. The shots where you just see 2 barrels from the end perspective and they shoot were actually the guns on Vanguard (for Hood and also Bismarck). They also filmed bridge and Captain’s quarters scenes for Hood, POW, KGV, and even Bismarck on Vanguard too. This was done not too long before Vanguard was scrapped. Also, another tidbit from the movie I just remembered, Belfast was used for all the different British Cruiser scenes in the movie. Great movie As these movies are currently viewable on YT for free, I recommend everyone watching any you are interested in at your leisure, regardless of what movie gets picked. Any such movie can be removed or made private at any time, so better be early rather than late. Now, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. I didn't want to vote myself, but I also didn't expect the results to be this close. It's basically I think only me and @I_cant_Swim_ who haven't voted.... ... and 'Support'.

Admiral_Karasu
I closed the poll. The May Movie of the Month is 'The Enemy Below'. Since there were two movies tied, I picked this one because our first movie was British, so we now get to see an American one this month. Thanks to everyone who voted! 2

DDG44_Vet
Watched The Enemy Below again this evening, then did some reading on the Buckley class DE’s. I was curious about the engine room scenes where the watch stander was sliding throttle handles instead of turning a steam stop valve to increase speed even though the engineering officer states all boilers online during a damage report. Found out the Bukley’s were turbo electric drive not geared steam turbine, did not know we had turbo electric ships in WWII.
