Been busy with irl stuff, so didn't post anything recently.

China is encouraging people to scrap their EVs made prior to April 30th 2018. That's only 6 yrs ago and only half of avg life span of normal cars. The compensation is only 10000 cny (about 1.4~1.5k usd) if the owner decides to purchase a new EV, even less (7000 cny) if the owner decides to buy gas powered cars.

Still, many people decide to accept the deal, since most used car dealers don't accept "old" EVs, and 6 yr old EVs are problematic enough for people to ditch them.

Landfills are full of useful metals and sometime in the future are going to be mined for their resources. I recently read that 10% of all the gold ever mined by humans now resides in landfills.

Why American are even calling a 5370mm long vehicle "midsize pickup"? It's even longer than some fullsize vehicles (Expedition and Tahoe etc.)

'cause their fullsize pickup is even larger

It doesn't seem to be THAT long in picture, though......

It's not just an "American" thing, the internationally-sold Hi-Lux has an overall length of 5330 mm. Nobody makes a really small body-on-frame truck any more for the general consumer market. So-called "pickups" that are smaller than "mid-size" are unibody cars with the rear body replaced with a small bed area. Hyundai’s Santa Cruz is currently the smallest of these available at 4970 mm. It's bed is about 1323 mm, whereas the Hi-Lux's short bed option is about 1532 mm.
