Looks Japanese, but I'm thinking of Orinoco Flow.

Good song but the electric light doesn't shine on Enya's orchestra.

Nobody's got this song yet? What if I said that her name was Calypso?

Whereas I'm thinking should I know a song about Calypso, because I start thinking about a genre, calypso music, not a song. If I am reminded of a song, then it has three blind mice in it...

Calypso was a Nereid, the ocean's daughter. I told you the name of the band when I said that the electric light didn't shine on Enya's orchestra.

"Can't Get It Out Of My Head" by ELO.

Midnight on the water
I saw the ocean's daughter
Walking on a wave she came
Staring as she called my name

And I can't get it out of my head
No, I can't get it out of my head
Now my old world is gone for dead
'Cause I can't get it out of my head

Breakdown on the shoreline
Can't move. It's an ebb tide
Morning don't get here tonight
Searching for her silver light

And I can't get it out of my head...

OK, here's another one from the classic rock era.

The Bing AI either thinks all mammals are mutants or it really likes to draw fingers and toes.

@Snargfargle I did get the EL O reference, but I don't think I know the song very well. I've casually heard some of their songs, but they've never been in the focus for me, so to speak. It's also a little ahead of my time, in a sense, I grew up with UK Top 40, MTV Hits, and the actual MTV channel, but this was in the satellite era. It's strange, in a way, that all of those satellite channels and their programming now seems a bygone era. That was also the time when BBC Prime used to broadcast globally. Are we going backwards?

Uh... I don't know about the others, but I can do with a little more hints when it comes to these riddles (I usually try to make them easier, though mine tend to be a little 'eclectic' at times, admittedly...).

What have we here, a waitress wearing a silver locket and holding something firmly, in her six-fingered hand... what looks to be a silver.. inkwell?

Don't concentrate on what she's holding so much as where she's working, what her job is, and what's she's wearing around her neck. Also, think about this guy, who could be her boyfriend, and what he's looking through. Her name might be similar to something she serves too.

I can't play the song on my guitar. Too many barre chords.

The thing the sailor is looking through is the name of the band.

That's a telescope, but I've never heard of a band by such name. The others here might have.

Use an older, more generic name for it.

From Wikipedia:

Quote

The word telescope was coined in 1611 by the Greek mathematician Giovanni Demisiani for one of Galileo Galilei's instruments presented at a banquet at the Accademia dei Lincei.[2]

Just how old of a band are we talking about here? Galilei had used a different word for it, Perspicillum.... but that doesn't ring any bells either.

I just figured that out, should have remembered 'spyglass'... but... I can't find any other name beyond that one.

The term is also used for a mirror. Alice fell through one.

Ah... that one. A tad confusing isn't it. Imagine you were going on a journey and told to bring a looking glass with you, and then discover everyone else took a telescope and you're standing there on the ship's deck admiring yourself in the mirror...

I have a slight recollection, maybe, about there being a band by that name but it's hazier than the reflection in Cinderella's evil stepmother's mirror.

Maybe the others should give it a try now?

Well, thanks. Originally, what popped into my head was Whiskey in the jar, so I was like only a couple of bottles away.

This is a song sung by some weed-tokin' brothers. Hint: look at the colors.

Well, it's supposed to be a catfish but the AI doesn't know a thing about taxonomy. The river is supposed to be the Mississippi but the AI has made it look more like the Mekong.

Currently, the Mississippi River drainage is inundated with Asian carp, mainly bighead, silver, and grass carp. These carp started to become established when fish farms containing them flooded back in the late 1980s. Now, they are the most abundant species in the basin and have wreaked havoc on the native ecosystem.

Of course, the basin has had introduced European carp in it since the 1800s too. Carp are just big minnows and, as minnows, tend to jump out of the water a lot. Catfish don't jump all that much but that's the line in the song "Catfish are jumping."

So, we've got a raft, home-made by the looks of is, floating down the Mississippi, under the shining Mississippi (that's a state in the US too) moon, with catfish a-jumping.

Soon, the rafter sees this a-paddling by as well.

He is headed down to New Orleans. Gonna hear him some music.

Might even take a streetcar that's going up town.

Find him a pretty mama and dance a honkey tonk.

Sorry, to say, I have no clue what the song was. I was going to suggest the Hiroshima Carps fighting song, but I get the feeling it's something a little more American you have in mind.

Where's that @HogHammer when we need him?
