Well better opening than a "Dear John"... I'll have to think about that, guitars, books, and a letter.

He's submitting his novel to a publisher, it took him years to write it.

At this point, the only song about a letter I can remember is this one.

In most cases, it takes the publisher 10 seconds to bin it.

The song isn't about the man's letter but rather what he wants to be. It's a rather dirty story, by all accounts.

Hmm... it's getting late in the day here, I might not figure it out today...

I'll throw in something a little simpler, it probably will take you about that 10 seconds to figure it out, but for fun's sake anyway.

It's ... different, and a little suspicious. (It's a song, well of sorts, anyway.)

Sometimes novels refer to other novels.

The Nine Billion Names of God" is a 1953 science fiction short story by British writer Arthur C. Clarke

This powerful line in "Sunglasses After Dark" refers to it

"The Other is frightened of it, just as the succubus and the ogre were afraid. Seraphim never interfere with Pretenders. But they could if they wanted to, and that is why Pretenders are fearful of them. The Other digs its claws into my brain. If I do not leave it will try to gain control.

I turn and run from one of the nine billion faces of God."

In the song, the young man's novel also is based on another novel.

I needed some tips so I rang up a close personal friend of mine, writes the same sort of stuff I'm full of myself. He's name is Edward Lear. Perhaps you may have heard of him?

And here's the song. They sing and play well, I think they'll be famous one day.

Sadly, no. We stay at the barracks for this one, in a sense.

Well, no, but in trying to figure out what the image shows you are getting warmer.

How bout this one. It's as song along the lines of the last one.

Not Christmas per se but a funny one.

More lyrics from the song.
