iDuckman
Red Storm Rising - Ch.23 FIXEDIT is doing CGI visuals to accompany Tom Clancy's Red Storm Rising. Most of the released chapters were posted on the old forum. Check FIXEDIT's YT channel for them now. Good stuff! The reader alone is worth listening to. DDG44_Vet
The LCS debacle continues. Ships being decommissioned with less than 10 years of service. DDG44_Vet
It stands for Bureau Of Ships. Back when the Navy designed their own ships vs. relying on commercial firms naval architects. 2

Most unseaworthy vessels out at sea are usually passenger ferries.

Like the Lifeboat Launch used in the movie "The Finest Hours" ? Quote The original Coast Guard lifeboat launch used to rescue the Pendleton survivors, CG36500, still exists and is maintained in perfect working condition at Rock Harbor in Orleans, Massachusetts. Disney originally approached members of the team which maintain the boat regarding whether they could use it in the film, however because of the modifications that would have been required for filming and potential damage that might be incurred to the 60+ year old vessel, they respectfully declined. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2025690/trivia/?ref_=tt_trv_trv
Wolfswetpaws
"The US Coast Guard motor lifeboat CG36500 became famous for the rescue of 32 crew members of the tanker PENDLETON that broke apart during a storm off Cape Cod in February 1952. The boat was itself rescued and restored in 1980-81 by volunteers from the Orleans Historical Society (now known as the Centers for Culture and History in Orleans). In this video the CG36500's Operations Manager and Coxswain, Richard G. Ryder, gives a detailed tour of this historic lifeboat, describing its rugged construction and features and showing how it operates. Mr. Ryder also provides insights about the boat's unique place in maritime history." The Gold Medal Boat CG 36500 - A Stem to Stern Tour CG 36500 GOLD MEDAL BOAT https://www.orleanshistoricalsociety.org/aboutboat CG36500 2009 restoration Edited to add: At about the 10 minute & 30 second time-stamp, in the "CG36500 2009 restoration" video, there is a mention of the boat delivering the 70th. Lighthouse Keeper, Sally Snowman, to Boston Light. My Wife has volunteered at Boston Light, and that is how my Wife and I met Sally Snowman (they were performing their duties and I was there in support of my Wife and as a tourist). iDuckman
Some of the retired LCS (the multi-hull ones - I can never keep the names straight) will go to SOCOM and other duties. The wrong ships at the wrong time, using the wrong procurement model. "Let's buy 100 ships without testing the class first..." or qualify any mission modules. Or test manning plan. Given that the Coast Guard require high availability and endurance of their cutters, any LCS would make extraordinary poor surrogate cutters for any narco command. 1

As I understand it, that applies to the mono-hulls. They're solid gone. One thing the LSC has going for it is speed. Let's see a cutter catch a cigarette boat. Maybe the Navy can test possible ASW mission modules on narco-subs.
